Southeast Austin: Route to Airport

ABI Airport from Colorado River and Airport Blvd
This route takes one to the Austin Bergstrom International Airport from
the north across the US 183 river bridge.
The route begins at the sidewalk on the north side of the Colorado
River. This starting point is at the intersection of Cesar Chavez St, E
7th St, Airport Blvd, US 183 / Ed Bluestein Blvd, the Colorado River,
and Levander Loop. It is accessible from all of these roads. The safest
access is from Levander Loop followed by a short walk up a hill.
Out of the 4.3 miles total for the route, only about one mile is on the
multi-lane Bastrop Highway itself (includes US 183 and TX 71). Safety is
nearly maximized with this route, considering this destination's lack of
bicycle-safe routes.
I have not tested this route yet. I plan to do so on New Year's Day
2007. If there are any significant changes warranted, I plan to post
them on this site.

Southeast Austin: William Cannon (E), from I-35 to Onion Creek
Joel writes "Road Comments: Wide road with 3 lanes going each way. Not huge traffic (last time I was on it) so you can pretty much take the right lane. Traffic is going pretty quickly however.

Southeast Austin: Burleson Road from 71 to Oltorf
Joel writes "I don't ride in that area but I saw this road as I was passing through town.. Looks like a well maintained and easy route. It even has no-parking signs in the bike lanes and I didn't see any cars parked. Bonus! Of note, it is green in the City of Austin Bike Map"

Southeast Austin: US 183 Intersection with Old Lockhart Rd

"There is what I consider a particularly dangerous crossing at Old Lockhart Rd and Hwy 183 (I live on Old Lockhart Rd. very near that crossing and have tried it a couple of times myself).
